چکیده

2014 This paper presents a theoretical analysis of a possible scheme to realize a strong population difference between the two ground state sub-levels F = 4, MF = 0, and F = 3, MF = 0 of caesium atom. Two laser-diode light beams, 03C0 polarized, are used to illuminate at right angle an atomic beam. The efficiency of the population difference build up is evaluated for two limiting cases according to the light spectral distribution : the monochromatic and broadband excitations. This analysis takes into account hyperfine and Zeeman structures of the energy levels. Numerical calculations show that the monochromatic excitation leads to steady state population difference close to the value obtained with a single pumping laser; however all the atoms can be brought in the upper level if the two laser lights are considered broadband and uncorrelated Guidelines are derived to obtain an efficient optically pumped caesium beam frequency standard. Compact extended cavity diode laser system for small optically pumped cesium beam frequency standards

A compact extended cavity diode laser (ECDL) system operating at 852 nm for small optically pumped cesium (Cs) beam frequency standards was reported. ECDL and a saturated absorption spectroscopy setup were all built in an aluminum box with dimension of 10 × 10 × 7 (cm). ECDL was based on a LittmanMetcaff configuration, whose free-running linewidth was less than 600 kHz. A digital automatic freq...

The Effect of Laser Line-narrowing on the Performance of Optically Pumped Cesium Atomic Beam Frequency Standards

An experiment has been conducted to investigate the effect of laser line-narrowing on the performance of an optically pumped cesium beam frequency standard. A two laser scheme (4-+4'u for optical pumping and 4+5'7t. for detection) was used and the lasers were either frequency locked to Cs saturated absorption features in an external cell or linenarrowed by optical feedback from an external Fabr...

Development and application of new high-power laser beam sources

The actual market volume of high-power lasers for manufacturing is dominated by diffusion cooled CO2 laser systems at the multi-kW range and lamp pumped Nd:YAG laser systems at the kW range. Substituting the lamps by diodes the Nd:YAG laser in rod design entered the market as diode pumped solid state laser of the first generation. With output powers up to 6 kW the diode pumped rod is used in in...

Bessel–Gauss output beam from a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser

We demonstrate a simple and compact laser source that directly produces a Bessel–Gauss beam. The laser resonator consists of a diode-end-pumped Nd:YAG crystal, a planar mirror, and a diffractive mirror designed to phase-conjugate only the lowest-order Bessel–Gauss beam. 2004 Elsevier B.V.
